Capt. Eslinger holds a Master’s Degree from the United States Navy War College in National Security and Strategic Studies. and is currently the Owner of Healthy Visions Wellness Center, Clinton, Tennessee.
• Capt. Eslinger has served as Chief Nurse Anesthetist, Assistant Officer in Charge Department of Anesthesiology and Board of Directors of Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA.
• Chief Nurse and Assistant Officer in Charge of the Hospital Ship USNS Mercy
• Director of Patient Services and Senior Nurse Naval Hospital Beaufort, SC

• He is founder and President of the American Association of Moderate Sedation Nurses (AAMSN)
• Capt. Eslinger taught bioterrorism training for the University of Tennessee School of Nursing Master’s Program in Homeland Security.
Capt. Eslinger is currently working with the Navy Seals in Little Creek, VA in Chronic Pain Management through the Wounded Warrior Foundation and White House Staff.

Sunday 24th: Ron Mottern, Ph.D. CH, Pain, Addiction and Hypnosis
8:00-12:30 This presentation will look at the theory of internal control psychology and the concept of Total Behaviors. The difference between physical dependence and psychological addiction will be covered, as will the concepts of automaticity, phases of change and the relapse curve. How hypnosis can be used to alleviate and/or moderate reactions to relapse triggers will be addressed. Anyone who works with individuals addicted to alcohol and other drugs (AOD) will benefit from this presentation. This includes nurses and nurse anesthetists, who have historically had high rates of addiction within their professions and who often deal with substance abusers and addicts on a daily basis in the normal course of their job performance.
Ron Mottern has worked in individual care, outpatient and residential treatment for substance abuse and addiction for over 10 years.
He created the curriculum - Choose Wisely: Cognitive Behavioral Substance Abuse Intervention Program for substance abuse and addiction treatment that has been used across the country in various treatment programs.
He is currently:
• The Director of Knoxville Center for Clinical Hypnosis and is Alcohol/Drug Coordinator for Knox County Sheriff’s Office – Community Alternatives to Prison Program, where he uses Guided Imagery, Visualization and Hypnosis to help treat substance abuse and addiction.
• Dr. Mottern is a counselor in intensive residential treatment and has worked with a variety of issues, including stress and anxiety related disorders.
• He teaches cognitive restructuring and is the Chief Instructor for Cognitive Education and Restructuring Programs, which provides cognitive education services and training to individuals, business and government.
• He is Adjunct Instructor in Psychology at Tusculum College.
